We use state-of-the-art technology to perform minimally-invasive procedures.
Sometimes called the surgery of the 21st century, Interventional Radiology is one of the most dynamic medical fields today. Interventional Associates is a local medical practice dedicated to performing minimally invasive procedures with state-of-the-art imaging technology, including CT scan, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and MRI, as well as other advanced imaging equipment.
Increasingly patients are more aware of medical treatment options—they are asking specifically for “minimally invasive procedures” and often seeking a second opinion directly from an Interventional Radiologist. Historically, interventional radiologists have been the “specialist’s specialist,” and patients did not have an opportunity for direct contact with Interventional Radiologists. This is changing, as patients are better informed and more involved in treatment options. Sometimes, even very qualified and informed referring physicians are not aware of all the minimally invasive therapies available to treat many medical conditions.
Modern, minimally invasive treatments are available for many diseases. An interventional radiologist uses various imaging modalities to perform procedures without making a surgical incision. With a tiny puncture, Interventional Radiologists perform revolutionary procedures and life-saving operations —similar to micro-surgery-- which are often easier, safer, and more effective for the patient and less expensive than conventional surgery.
Interventional Radiologists can access some of the most hard-to-reach and even inoperable locations in the body. Guiding narrow tubes (catheters) and other very small instruments through the blood vessels and other pathways of the body to the site of a problem, an interventional radiologist reaches the target site, fixes the medical problem, and then removes the catheter. Stitches generally are not needed, and procedures rarely require general anesthesia.
